TIP 1

Book your Colosseum ticket in advance

The combined ticket covering the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill is sold in timed entry slots that sell out days ahead in high season (April–October). Buying online through the official Coopculture or Parco Colosseo portals avoids both the ticket-office queue and inflated prices from street resellers near the amphitheater.

TIP 2

Visit early morning or just before closing.

The site opens roughly at 9:00 and gets very crowded by mid-morning, especially with tour groups arriving around 10:00–11:00. Arriving at opening time, or in the last two hours before closing, means smaller crowds, softer light for photos, and noticeably lower temperatures in summer.

TIP 3

One ticket, one entry per site - plan your route.

The combined ticket allows a single entry each to the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill within 24 hours, so plan to see all three in one continuous visit rather than splitting across days. Wear sturdy, flat shoes: the Forum and Palatine paths are uneven ancient paving and gravel, with little shade.
